Kougars take down Skyhawks twice in Arrowhead play

April 13, 2019 – The Kishwaukee College Men's Baseball team hosted Sauk Valley in Malta on Saturday.  The Kougars came away with the Arrowhead conference doubleheader sweep winning 10-0 and 8-3 over the Skyhawks.

 

In game one, Kish jumped out to a 2-0 lead and added on 6 runs in their half of the fourth to blow the game open on the way to a 10-0 run rule win after 5 innings.  Parker Burch (double, 2 RBI) and Dimitri Duverger (double, stolen base) had two hits apiece to lead the Kishwaukee hitting.  Michael Ryan (triple, 2 RBI), Jovan Deming and Ethen Wetzel contributed to the offensive attack.  Jaime Prieto went the full five innings giving up 0 earned runs and striking out 6 to earn the victory.

 

In game two, the Skyhawks led 3-0 going into the bottom of the third inning.  The Kougars would score 3 runs in their half of the inning and would go on to score runs in each of fourth, fifth and sixth innings.  Dylan Doyle went 2-4 with 2 runs scored and 2 stolen bases.  Frank DeLeon, Burch (double), Ryan (RBI), Duverger (triple) and William Pagan each tallied a run scored while Wetzel drove in a pair of RBI and Ethan Johanningsmeier one RBI to wrap up the Kish offensive production.  Johanningsmeier pitched 5 innings allowing just 2 earned runs and striking out 2 for the pitching win and Blake Albers went the final 2 innings allowing no earned runs and striking out 5 to close out the game and the sweep.

 

Kishwaukee (3-17-1 overall, 3-7 Arrowhead Conference) are slated to have a busy week (weather permitting) starting Tuesday, April 16 with a scheduled doubleheader against Sauk Valley beginning at 2:00 pm.  Kish will continue on Saturday, April 20 versus Illinois Valley in Oglesby starting with first game pitch at noon.
