Kishwaukee splits DH versus Minnesota West

March 8, 2018

The Kishwaukee baseball team continued their southern trip Thursday and split two games versus Minnesota West Technical and Community College winning game one 2-0.  In that contest, sophomore pitcher, Evan Sutta, went seven strong innings giving up six hits, no runs and struck out nine. This was the Kougar pitching staff's second shutout of the southern trip in four games.  Joey Locascio had two hits to lead Kish attack and David Villafane reached to help the scoring cause with a walk.

In game two, Kishwaukee lost a tough one 11-9.  Kish would get on the scoreboard in the second scoring the game's first run and tied the game up at the end of three innings at 2-2.  A rough sixth (7 runs allowed) and two more runs by Minnesota West in the top of seventh put the Kougars down 11-4 going into the Kougars final at bat.  The team rallied with five runs but just came up a little short.  Tommy Hansen and Joey Locascio each had a pair of RBI to lead the Kish offense.  Matt Almeida pitched five innings and struck out three.

The Kougars are now 3-1 on the southern trip and 6-3 overall.  The team will face Oakton Community College today in a single game starting at 4:30 pm EST.
