Kougars baseball pick up two big wins on first day of southern trip

March 7, 2018 -  Kishwaukee College opened up their southern trip taking two games from Frederick (MD) Community College.  The Kougars bats came alive early and often against Frederick (who had been recently ranked #20 in the NJCAA DII coaches poll) as they jumped out early in game one 7-0.  The Frederick College team managed to battle back to force extra innings but Kish would plate four runs in the top of the ninth to win 11-7.  Alex Soto had three RBI in the game while Dylan Smith and Matt Morgan had two RBI each to help lead the hitting attack.  Alejandro Vierio went five innings and Trevor Sanchez pitched 2 2/3 innings with each getting six strikeouts to help combine for the win.

Game two featured great defense by the Kougars and a pitchers duel in a fast-paced game.  Kish would score their run in the first and it was all Marc Soto needed to seal another victory for Kishwaukee 1-0.  Soto went the distance in game two scattering five hits and striking out eight.

Kishwaukee is now 5-2 overall and will face Minnesota Technical and Community College in a doubleheader with first game first pitch slated for 1:00 PM EST.
