Kougar Baseball Sweeps

Game 1-

Kishwaukee College beat Carl Sandburg on Saturday 6-0 at Malta, IL in seven innings.

Kishwaukee scored three runs in the fourth on a groundout by Juan Casanova, a groundout by David Salgueiro, and a fielder's choice.

Matt Albert put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for Kishwaukee. He doubled in the first inning and tripled in the third inning.

Chris Rodriguez baffled Carl Sandburg, striking out 10 batters. Kishwaukee College's pitcher gave up just seven hits over seven shutout innings.

The Kougars were sparked by Salgueiro and Albert, who teamed up for four hits and two RBIs.

Kishwaukee went up for good in the first, scoring one run on a sacrifice fly by Cooper Vinz. The Kougars tacked on another two runs in the third. A ground out scored Casanova for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Albert's triple, plating Salgueiro.

Game 2-

Kishwaukee College and Carl Sandburg both threatened with rallies, but it was Kishwaukee College that eventually took advantage of them in a 7-5 win at Malta, IL.

Carl Sandburg had 11 hits compared with Kishwaukee's nine, but Carl Sandburg stranded nine runners on base.

Kishwaukee staved off Carl Sandburg as Carl Sandburg was unable to match the Kougars down the stretch. Carl Sandburg scored four runs in the fifth on three singles. Despite its efforts, Carl Sandburg couldn't get over the hump.

Matt Albert stayed hot at the plate with two extra-base hits for Kishwaukee College. He doubled in the second inning and homered in the fifth inning.

Kishwaukee College's David Salgueiro, Cooper Vinz and Albert combined for four hits and seven RBIs.

The top of the first saw Carl Sandburg take an early lead, 1-0. A single by Reed Sprinkle, bringing home Tanner Evans started the inning off.

It didn't take long for Kishwaukee College to respond as it scored one run of its own in the first. The Kougats scored on a groundout by Vinz. The lead stayed with Kishwaukee after the second, when it scored five runs on two doubles and an RBI single by Salgueiro.
