Offenses dominate as Kishwaukee College outscores Lake County 9-8

 

Scoreboard operators were busy at Malta, IL on Sunday as Kishwaukee College and Lake County combined for 17 runs. Kishwaukee College eventually won the offensive battle 9-8 in seven innings.

Hitters on both sides were strong at the plate as the teams combined for 25 hits, including 10 extra base hits.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to nine lead changes in the game.

Kishwaukee College finally managed to grab the lead after a strong sixth inning. An error scored Matt Albert and gave Kishwaukee College the lead for good.

 

Albert had two extra-base hits for Kishwaukee College. He doubled in the fourth and sixth innings.

 

Renny Tolentino got the win in relief for Kishwaukee College. Tolentino pitched two innings and allowed no runs.

David Salgueiro, Cooper Vinz, Aneudy DeLacruz and Albert helped lead Kishwaukee College. They combined for eight hits and five RBIs.

Luke Hatton couldn't get it done on the rubber for Lake County, taking a loss. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.

The top of the first saw Lake County take an early lead, 2-0. A two-run home run by Freddie Landers, plating Dominic Cuevas started the inning off.

Kishwaukee College scored four runs of its own in the first. Kishwaukee College scored on an RBI single by Jared Johnson, an RBI double by DeLacruz, and a two-run error.

Kishwaukee College survived Lake County's surge and put up two runs of its own in the fifth. Kishwaukee College scored on a two-run single by Salgueiro.
