Nagel homers for Chargers in both contests at Kishwaukee

MALTA — Maleaha Nagel homered twice to account for all the Carl Sandburg College softball team's runs, but the Chargers were swept in an Arrowhead Conference doubleheader at Kishwaukee on Thursday.

KEY MOMENTS
• Down 3-0 in the fourth, Erin Jackson opened the inning with an infield hit. With two out, Nagel stepped up and swatted a home run to center to bring the Chargers within a run.
• Kishwaukee's first four batters in the bottom of the fourth reached base, and all four came around to score to extend the Kougars' lead to 7-2.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
Nagel's homer was her third this season.

KEY MOMENT
Kishwaukee plated three runs with the bases loaded and two away in the opening inning, using a walk and consecutive hit batsmen to drive in the runs.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
Nagel's second homer of the afternoon, a leadoff shot to center in the fourth, made it a 4-1 game. She leads the squad with four longballs on the year.

FRIDAY'S GAMES CANCELED
The Chargers' doubleheader scheduled for Friday vs. John Wood has been canceled because the Blazers needed to reschedule a region contest for that day.
